For more than a quarter of a century Marco Zanetti has been at the top of three cushion billiards in Italy. Once again, in 2016. for the 25th time, Zanetti has captured the Italian National Championship his 9th in a row. Facing a field of 30 of Italy's best the 54 year Zanetti proved why he has consistently ranked in the top 12 in the world.

It was a busy and exciting weekend for three cushion billiards which culminated on June 20th with champions crowned in three countries. In the French championship Jerome Barbeillon (left above) took the title for the second time in four years. Team FC Porto (top) won the Portuguese championship for teams. And Dutch star Thesese Klompenhouwer (bottom) continued her winning ways taking the first ever European Cup for ladies.

It is truly the season for team championships with events taking place across the Eurpoean continent. In the Spanish three cushion championship for club teams it was title number ten for the Catalan team. In the final Catalan defeated Madrid while Murcia and Valencia took thrid and fourth respectivelhy. The finals for the tournament were held at Los Narejos.

The team CetSI Morangis has taken the French team title in three cushion for the second year in a row. In the finals of the championship match, playing in front of its home crowd, the Parisian team of Jean Riverchon and Richard Bitalis, along with the lead players from Belgium Eddy Merckx and Eddy Leppens, defeated the team Albert. CetSi Morangis remained unbeaten in all its matches.
