Myung-Woo Cho of Korea caps off a fantastic year of his life by winning the 2016 World Junior Championship in 3-Cushion Billiards at age 18. Cho went undefeated through the entire event winning all his games in the preliminary rounds and continuing his march through the 1/4, semi and final rounds. Last year's winner Tae-Kwan Kim was eliminated in the quarter final round paving the way for Cho to dominate.

Dani Sanchez is on fire in the world of 3-cushion billiards. Coming off his recent world championship win in Bordeaux, France Sanchez has taken the trophy in a prestigious field at the 2016 Lausanne Billiard Masters.
Once again the fabulous Casino Montbenon in Lausanne Switzerland was host to the 2016 installment of the Lausanne Billiard Masters. Eight of the top 3-cushion players in the world were joined by two invited local players to compete for the title and cash prizes. The event took place December 2-4. Last year's winner and world ranked number two Dick Jaspers was there defending his title along with the other players in the UMB top four: Frederic Caudron (1), current world champion Dani Sanchez (3) and Torbjorn Blomdahl (4).

For the fourth time in his career, Spain's Dani Sanchez has been crowned World Champion of 3-Cushion Billiards. The 69th edition of the UMB World 3-Cushion Billiards Championship was held for the second year in a row in Bordeaux, France (November 15-19, 2016.) Forty-eight of the world's best competed in a round-robin preliminary phase followed by a 16-man knock-out phase. The title and first place prize of 10,000 Euros ($10,717 USD) also included 120 ranking points and Sanchez win immediately moved him up to number 3 in the world. After a tough preliminary battle Choong-Bok Lee of Korea outplayed all particiapants to take 1st place and the largest cash payout of any 3-cushion tournament. The second LG U+ Cup 3-Cushion Masters invitational tournament was held November 8-11 in Seoul, Korea. Ten of South Korea's top billiard players were matched with six international stars in a combination round robin and knock-out event. Two things that make this now annual competition so interesting and different are: the matches are held in an open playing area in a shopping center, and the prize payout is the most lucrative of any competition in the 3-cushion international tournament schedule! With one day left three Koreans and one Vietnamese will meet in the knock-out phase to determine who takes home the $55,000 first prize.
