The European Cup three cushion for teams is the first major trophy in the gallery of the new Turkish team Gaziantepspor. The star team defeated the other favourite for the title, FC Porto, in the final match. Frédéric Caudron, the Belgian leading player of the champions, played an excellent tournament for his team in the wonderful billiard room of the FC Porto stadium.

The 20 year Spanish champion Andrés Carrión has conquered the European junior title in front of his home crowd in Los Alcázares, Spain. The Spanish national team coach, Jose Maria Quetglas, says that Carrión is seen as one of the great talents for the future. The gold winner defeated the strong German Tom Löwe after a blistering start (18-4) with 30-21 in 27 innings.

Fourteen players under 21 will show up for the European championship three cushion in the Spanish Los Alcázares, near Murcia, this week. The defending champion, the Turk Berkay Karakurt, is not among the participants because of his age. The new champion must come from three groups playing for a place in the quarter finals. With dazzling shots and consistent improvement throughout the event Belgium's Frederic Caudron topped the field of 149 players at the third UMB World Cup of 2016. Held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Caudron was one of three European players to reach the final four. Only Nguyen Quoc Nguyen of Vietnam remained to represent the large Asian contingent that began the event. With his win Caudron moves past Torbjorn Blomdahl to reclaim the number 1 spot in the UMB World 3-Cushion Billiards Rankings.
