Nikos Polychronopoulos - or Nick Poly which is much easier to say and remember - has won his fourth Greek National 3-Cushion Championship (in a row!) To perform this bit of magic he needed both his great billiard skills and a little bit of luck! Thirteen years ago Orie Hida of Japan won the very first women's 3-cushion world championship tournament. Over the years she has held the title three times. Now, in the 7th installment of this event she has once again returned to the top of the women's ranks taking her fourth championship title.

The two Turkish players, Tayfun Tasdemir and Can Capak, hugged each other with joy in the arena of the European championship after their victory in the final match over the dethroned champions Dick Jaspers and Raimond Burgman of The Netherlands. The newly crowned European champion in three cushion for national teams is Turkey, after a spectacular finish for which the crowd rewarded their victory with a standing ovation. For Tasdemir, it was his second European title, for Capak his first major international success.

The crowds in the arena in Brandenburg, Germany could not have hoped for more as Marco Zanetti of Italy won the European 3-Cushion Championship in a record-setting performance. In front of stands packed with spectators, 55-year old Zanetti celebrated one of the finest wins in his illustrious career. Overcoming a shaky start in the first round of the main event, Zanetti grew stronger with each game until his ultimate victory in a brilliant final performance.
