With his second win in two years, Hugo Patiño of the United States has been crowned king of billiards in Lima. The American extended his title in the Grand Prix Panamericano by a victory over Robinson Morales in the final: 40-38 in 21 innings. Colombian-born Patino was rewarded with 5,000 dollars in the tournament which was organized in excellent fashion by RAJU Productions (Ramon Rodriguez and July Pinedo).

In a real classic match between two European top guns from the low lands, Dick Jaspers took the trophy in the Lausanne Billard Masters. The Dutchman was the best in the final where he defeated Frédéric Caudron 40-24 in sixteen innings. For Jaspers it was his second victory in five years in Lausanne. The world champion, Caudron, couldn't win his first in the prestigious tournament held in the wonderful Swiss capital of the Olympic committee. The podium was completed by Dani Sánchez and Marco Zanetti. Dick Jaspers earned 2000 Swiss francs (1800 euros) with his victory.

Frederic Caudron of Belgium in a sparkling, record-setting performance has captured his third 3-Cushion World Championship, defeating fellow countryman Eddy Merckx in the final match 40-16 in 9 innings -- a beautiful 4.44 average. The tournament, held in Santa Cruz, Bolivia November 8-12 attracted 48 of the world's best players. In the end it was a rare one-country final match between the two Belgians that confirmed the continued dominance of the European region at the top-level of world 3-cushion with Caudron once again leading the way. Torbjorn Blomdahl has once again proven why he is one of the greatest players of all time in the game of 3-Cushion Billiards. In a consistent and strong showing the 55-year old Swedish star defeated all comers including the great Frederic Caudron in the final match to win the sixth UMB World Cup of the 2017 cycle. Held for the second year in the city of La Baule France the event ran from October 23-29. The result moves Blomdahl into the number 4 spot on the UMB Ranking. (Dani Sanchez retains number 1 followed by Haeng-Jik Kim and Dick Jaspers.)
