The six best players in the world and six wild card players are set to face off in the world's most lucrative three cushion tournament ever. Twelve top players in three cushion will meet each other in New York August 5-11, 2018 to battle it out for a total of $608,000 in prize money. The winner will receive $150,000 - the single largest payout ever to a winner of a 3-cushion billiards event. The name of the tournament is The McCreery 3C Champion of Champions. The location is in New York (at a private estate of the tournament's billionaire benefactor.) The organization is in the hands of UMB in cooperation with the organizers. The team from South Korea has for the second year in a row won the World Team Championship held in Viersen Germany February 22-25. With sharp play by former individual world champion Sung Won Choi (who was also on the 2017 winning team) the Koreans won their final match over the surprise Austrian team who took silver. Bronze honors went jointly to Turkey and Denmark.

Andreas Efler had the most incredible week of his life - reaching both highs and lows in a roller coaster ride of emotion. The Austrian player was first treated by Dick Jaspers to an unbelievable punishment in a 40-0 defeat in only 4 innings. Dick Jasper's broke the world's record while Andy scored zero left to watc it all happen from his chair. But with grit and determination Efler soon got his revenge. In the Austrian Championship that followed, Efler became Austrian champion for the sixth time, while equalizing the record best run in his country: 17.
